Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Not sure how or where to start the story.. IBD has only been part of our lives for 4 years, but it's felt like a lifetime journey. Like Bex, there are hundreds of people in the UK that suffer with this incurable disease.
In 2014 Bex fell critically ill to a disease we knew nothing about and like a lot of other people had been misdiagnosed for years.
It quickly became too hard to treat medically and within 6 weeks she went from her graduation - to hospital and being given 48 hours to live - to life with a colostomy bag.
I went from the proudest day of my life to the scariest in what felt like a heartbeat.
On the day Bex's life was saved by Stan (the Stoma), we made a promise that each year we would work to raise awareness for people suffering with this disease.
4 years on and Bex is a successful teacher, has rebuilt her life and supports others suffering with the condition. Whist she contemplates further surgery and tests to see if a reversal is possible, on the 27th July 2019 I and a group of friends, colleagues and family will be completing the 10k Tough Mudder course.
We all know of someone suffering with IBD, even if they haven't told us and so to help raise funds and awareness to all those suffering with IBD, we are taking on this huge physical challenge. Most people know me as a 40 something overweight smoker who likes a drink so this is no walk in the park, although nothing compared to the battle with IBD !!
Therefore please, give if you can, share if you can't , or just be there and cheer us on!
Thanks for your support!
