Story
We recently read a story about a Swedish millionaire who bought 400,000 acres of rainforest, solely for the purpose of preservation. It got our family wondering how ordinary people like us can help.
We found out about the World Land Trust, and were really impressed with what we read. It's a charity which buys up areas of rainforest, for an average of £100 an acre. Unlike similar charities, they ensure that the land they buy is PERMANENTLY protected - which is not only good news for the trees, but also for the thousands of creatures which make these forests their home.
An acre is just over 4000 square metres, so we decided that a 4 km woodland walk would be an appropriate challenge - a long way for some of the little legs involved!
So on Sunday 6th September Wren, Lola, Brad & Asha (accompanied by Steve & I) will be walking through the woods from Watersmeet to Lynmouth.
Please spare a pound or two to help them raise enough money to buy an acre and prove you don't have to be a millionaire to make a difference.
Thanks in advance.
