Story

Thank you for visiting ourJustGiving page.

On 16 June, partly inspired by The Proclaimers hit (“I would walk five hundred miles…”), the RBS Restructuring Complex & International Team will be walking 500 miles to raise money and awareness for the Alzheimer’s Society. Based on the FitBit scale, 500 miles equates to a massive 1,000,000 steps.

Our route will snake along the Thames from Putney Bridge to Hampton Court… and then back again, totalling 32 miles.  A slightly elongated version of the route can be seen here: http://content.tfl.gov.uk/thames-path-north-section-1.pdf

We wanted to pick a team event which allows everyone to participate while undertaking an impressive personal challenge. The Team consists of 18 people with decidedly varying fitness levels: we will be severely tested and – most worryingly – at the mercy of the British summer weather. Despite the potential for blistered feet and aching limbs, it’s for a great cause.

Set to be the 21st century’s biggest killer, Dementia will affect us all. The Alzheimer’s Society offers fantastic assistance to those suffering from Dementia and is the only UK charity investing in research into Dementia care, cause, cure and prevention. Any donations would therefore be very helpful.

From all in the RBS Restructuring Complex & International Team, we thank you in advance for your support and generosity.

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.
