Story
Having lost my beautiful mum Alison Witts to cancer in February 2010, the aim is to give something back to the organisation that helped so much throughout my mother's illness and who will hopefully help countless other families that require their support through such a distressing time.
I was also surprised to discover how many people had been affected by cancer (either themselves or members of their families), so I decided to retro gaming competitions to raise money for the MacMillan Cancer Support.
To make donating a little bit more fun, we hold competitions whereby we play a retro game from the past with either the highest score being the winner for single player games, or tournaments for multiplayer games. Geeky, but light-hearted and a good laugh!
Anyone who would like to participate are welcome to play as well, or you can simply donate in order to support such a worthwhile charity.
Whilst it is a close group of friends that tend to currently play at these events, we would love other players to get involved. We even have a trophy for first place and last place; try and get your name on there!
Results so far:
Space Invaders (completed 6th May 2010, winner Andrew O'Malley with 2,000 points)
Tetris (completed 8th August 2010, winner David Barrett with 23,026 points)
Supreme Commander (completed 30th July 2011, joint winners Ian Witts and David Barrett with a controvertial draw when both players blew up at the same time!)
Supreme Commander (September 21013 - event currently taking place)
