Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In October 2013, my good friend Atul (pictured above with his family), was diagnosed with Anaplastic Thyroid Cancer. Although he was given a prognosis of 6 months to live he died within a month of diagnosis. Leaving his wife Rutva, two boys age 6 and 7 at the time, and a huge group of friends and family totally devastated.
Rutva and the boys made the brave and difficult decision to move from London to Newcastle to rebuild their lives.
Having found out about FACT through one of the boys' new Headmasters Rutva went along to meet them to see if she could help another family going through the same situation.
FACT supported Rutva and the boys to feel welcome in their new community and help provide a network of people who had been through similar experiences. They had a huge impact on helping Rutva and the boys settle in and deal with the difficulty of losing a husband and Dad by offering a wide range of activities and support in a fun and relaxed environment.
I just wanted to say thank you in memory of Atul and on behalf of Rutva and the boys by raising a little money for FACT to help other families through similar situations, so I am going to run the gruelling 13.1 miles of the Great North Run on September 8th.
FACT offer a range of services to benefit cancer patients and support their friends, family and carers. No referral is necessary and you do not have to be the patient to benefit from their services.
Any donation is very much appreciated.
Thanks
Rich
