Story
I did it! There were times when I thought I wouldn't manage it and alhough the last few miles were very painful, I did get over that finish line. I had a target of sub 4 hours and guess what? I came in at 4 hrs 1 min! I suffered with cramp in the last few miles and badly in the final mile where I had to stop to stretch. But I'm not disappointed. I consider it a great achievement.
Thanks to you all for the amazing support I have had in so many ways and as of today I have raised 99% of my fundraising total, so I am thrilled about that too. All that money is going to support vital medical work in Malawi and that's the best news of all.
Just need a few days to recover so that I can stop hobbling. However, I have no intention whatsoever of doing another marathon, though I can recommend it as an experience that you should try once in your life if you young enough and fit enough.
Cheers,
Richard
