Finished in 3 hours 53 mins and 30 seconds. Not bad for a fat boy.  Mark has promised to run next year, so I thought I would let you all know, so he can't change his mind. Nice one Mark. Gets better every year, and a great way to see London.

 

I have been inspired to take up marathon running after a gap of 10 years since my last serious run.  London 2010 will be my sixth full Marathon. So far I have raised over £7,000 for various good causes.  I don't think I could do the training without the incentive of helping a charity.

RSAUK are a national charity seeking to make a difference for people living with Rett syndrome which affects 1:15000 females.  They offer practical help, friendship and support to people living with Rett syndrome as individuals, families and other carers and supporters.  I could see for myself how valuable this support is, when I recently met Abbie Howell (pictured with me), her family and full time carer.

The charity can also promote greater understanding and awareness of Rett syndrome amongst the general public and amongst medical professionals, and funding research into the cause and treatment of Rett syndrome and towards an eventual cure relies almost entirely on donations and grants.
