Story
In memory of Lydia Mary Gross, 1948 - 1992
I am raising money for St Michael's Hospice in Basingstoke in memory of my mum Lydia Gross who died of cancer at the hospice in December 1992, aged 44. After many months of illness, my mum was able to spend the end of her life in the newly built hospice which made a huge difference, I am sure, to the quality of her last days.
Since then the hospice has grown and provides many additional services such as:-
- - Therapeutic Clinic
- - Complementary Therapy
- - Medical Consultation
- Of course, this all comes at a cost...the hospice receives only 23% of funding through the local Primary Care Trust with the remaining £2.3 million needing to be raised through donations and fundraising, EVERY YEAR!
I am therefore running the St Michael's Hospice organised 10k run on 3 October at Wellington Country Park. I have never run that far before, but wanted to take part in something that could help raise as much money as possible for the hospice. Please donate as much as you can, safe in the knowledge that every penny is needed and will be well spent.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now - many many thanks, Richard.
THANKS EVERYONE FOR YOUR GENEROUSITY - I DID THE RUN IN 50 MINS, 3 SECONDS IN THE END. THANKS TO VICKI AND THE KIDS FOR STANDING IN THE RAIN TO CHEER ME ON TOO.
THANKS EVERYONE.
