Story
6 Villages Nepal Orphanage Cycle Challenge - 18th-20th September 2009
Last year I took part in this challenge. We came quite close to raising the £50,000 target. This year we are aiming to complete the purchase of the children's home in Kathmandu. I am one of a number cyclists helping to raise £60,000 to support an orphanage for destitute children in Nepal. Yapton Free Church, together with schools, churches and families within the 6 surrounding villages are already supporting the welfare and schooling of 50 Nepalese orphans. But with many more in dire need, we now need to complete the purchase of a purpose-designed orphanage.
Amanda and I have been sponsoring a child in the orphanage for a number of years now. So we know that this is a worthy cause.
This year's challenge is to do the return journey from Eastbourne to Winchester. The 106 mile taxing challenge along the South Downs will take 3 days to complete. We need your support - and so do these orphans in Nepal. Please pledge whatever you can afford. Every penny will go directly to supporting this orphanage. This year it has been difficult to people to commit time to the event so there are less of us doing the ride.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me. Also, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Many thanks.
Robert
