Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Introducing you to Team Three-Legged zebra -
Gina, who has just completed her first OCR and who I personally am very proud to be taking these challanges with, has suffered from Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) her whole life and has also raised three children, two of which have EDS. So she knows first hand the problems faced from both the sufferers and carers point of view.
Due to the nature of the condition ( Hyper mobile joints, Chronic Fatigue, regular dislocations, weak muscles and tendons, lack of balance, etc) taking on this challange is no mean feat. It will take a huge amount of courage, and will- power to overcome the pain and obvious difficulties an obstacle course presents.
Robert, I'm a right leg above knee amputee athlete who competes in various sports using crutches and/or a wheelchair. E.g. OCRs on crutches and Rugby league/7s for England in a Wheelchair. I've taken part in a few OCRs, but this one offers different challanges for me with the addition of inflatable obstacles, which on one leg will be interestering but fun!
We are doing this to raise vital awareness and funds as the medical community has very little knowledge of the condition and many patients go undiagnosed/misdiagnosed for years.
We would also like to raise awareness of Ehlers-Danlos Support UK as they are a vital link between the EDS community and the medical professionals, helping to bridge the gap and share knowledge between both parties.
Please show your support by donating what you can, no matter how small, all donations gratefully received. Please help us make our invisible illness visable. Thank You!
