Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

This is one marathon I've always wanted to run, and best do it while I can. Having supported Breast Cancer Care and The British Heart Foundation in the past, this year it's a charity that's been with the London Marathon since the very beginning...Stickler Syndrome UK. Stickler syndrome is a common but little recognised genetic disorder that causes eye abnormalities, hearing loss, and joint problems. A characteristic feature of Stickler syndrome is a somewhat flattened facial appearance. Many people have severe nearsightedness, cleft palate, glaucoma, cataracts, detached retinas, hearing loss and skeletal problems. One in 10,000 people are affected.

Stickler Syndrome UK was founded in 1989. Early diagnosis of those affected is vital and SSUK makes a difference by raising awareness amongst medical professionals to ensure both early diagnosis and effective treatment.

Small charities need support as much as some of those we are more familiar with; so a small donation from you, boosts my motivation to train and helps those who are faced with dealing with this genetic disorder. Thanks so much for supporting us.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
