What is Rob’s 50th Mission?

After a brave fight with cancer, our good friend Rob Gordon sadly passed away in June 2014. Rob was a life-long Manchester United fan, attending the famous European Champions league victory versus Bayern Munich at Camp Nou in May 1999.

In 1999, Rob and three other friends travelled to the game overland without any places to stay or tickets to the game. Thankfully everything worked out and the trip was a memorable one for all.

To mark the 20th anniversary of the final, Rob’s 50th birthday (which would have been this year) and most importantly raise funds for Bury Hospice, we are undertaking Rob’s 50th Mission.

We will drive two ‘ramshackled’ cars from Old Trafford to the Camp Nou via the French Alps, hopefully arriving on the 26 May.

The mission is in memory of Rob but to raise money for Bury Hospice, who care and support local people – and their families – facing life limiting illnesses.

Our initial target was £5,000 but with all the fantastic support we smashed that before the team set-off. We are not stopping there though. It costs £7k per day to run Bury Hospice, so £7,000 is our new fundraising goal.
