The Anthony Nolan Trust helps those suffering from blood disorders by matching potential donors with patients, educating people to help by donating, conducting research and supporting the families of those affected.

Northumberland National Park Mountain Rescue Team(registered charity) consists of highly trained volunteers who are on call 24/7 providing search and rescue cover for the whole of the Northumbria Police area. It costs £40k per year to keep it operational. The team was directly involved in OPERATIONAL search and rescue activities for 290 days last year. This excludes the 8288 volunteer hours of governance, administration, training, vehicle and equipment maintenance,  fundraising, and liason with and briefing of other agencies.

The  MONTANE®Spine® Race  is probably the toughest event that I've yet undertaken. A non-stop race along the 268 miles of the Pennine Way from Edale in Derbyshire to Kirk Yetholm in Scotland, much of it is on high level ground, 2/3 of it will be in darkness and the weather is likely to be a serious factor. Last year, Jasmin Paris smashed the course record in under 4 days. The cutoff is 7 days. I have no idea how it might go for me.....There will be live gps tracking...details to follow.
