Doing this climb to the top of Kilimajaro achieves two things. The first is an amazing trip of a life time to the roof of Africa that will also get me fitter and hopefully thinner along the way.

The second and most important is that I raise funds for Bowel Cancer and feel like I'm doing something active in the fight my friend Claire has with bowel cancer.

When Claire first got diagnosed with bowel cancer I wanted to do something. I can't take away this evil disease but maybe I can help by raising funds. However I couldn't think of anything big enough, or a challenge enough that would raise the kind of money I think this deserves. When this opportunity came along it fitted exactly into this gap!

At every step of this fight Claire has shown humour and patience. Every step of the way so far in training I've almost shown grumpiness and giving up but every time I do I think of Claires fight and find strength to carry on walking and never stop!

Claires latest fight is to get drugs that will delay the spread of her mets. This too is another fight as the PCT's won't fund this. If you are reading this can you please click on this link and show her your support -thanks
