Do you want to see me make a fool of myself? of course you do.

On November 1 I will be one of 14 comedy virgins taking on the terrifying task of standing up in front of a large audience and trying to be funny for five minutes.

Just thinking about it gives me sweaty palms, but the Face Your Fears challenge is all about getting over something that you thought you could never do and letting go of the part of you, or two thirds of you, that is worried about being humiliated.

I, and 13 other civilians will be raising money for people who are living with conditions, marks or scars and face their fear of humiliation every day because of how they think other people will react.

Hopefully, by feeling a spec of the nerves and apprehension they face on a daily basis, we can help support the work of a great charity and also help change the way people living with perceived disfigurments are treated.

We're getting a little help on the way, in the shape of stand up guru Logan Murray, who has tutored the likes of Rhod Gilbert and Greg Davies, as well as directing Eddie Izzard.

Logan has eight three hour sessions with us before the show, when you'll get to see me and several others either crash or burn or actually amuse people. Both, I'm sure you will agree, sound entertaining...

Now obviously I like to think I'm pretty hilarious, but I'm hoping that most people will disagree and feel it worthwhile sponsoring me at least a couple of quid in the name of a good cause.
