On September 19th, I will be running the Great North Run, alongside some of my close friends and family, in memory of my wonderful mum, Maggie, who sadly passed away last October.

After my brother Oli moved up north to study lots of teeth and enjoy the tropical climes, Newcastle quickly became one of Maggie's favourite cities, and the reason why we have chosen this particular race to run in her memory. Many happy weekends were spent up there, and now, for one weekend only, we will be sacrificing a night out in the bars and clubs of Newcastle to run 13.5 miles from Spital Tongues to South Shields. 

We have chosen Mind as our charity in order to raise as much money and awareness as possible for Britain's leading mental health charity. 1 in 5 people will be affected by mental health problems at some stage in their lives, and with crippling illnesses such as depression and anxiety on the rise in our modern society, the work that Mind does is becoming increasingly important.
