Some of you may not know, but I had a twin sister called Isobel who died of cot death when we were 3 months old.

In memory of her and in celebration of our 21st birthday I am trekking the Inca trail to Machu Picchu next september, trying to raise £100 for every year - £2100 in total.

This wil be hard, not only because of trekking at high altitude, but also because I've never slept in a tent and the whole trip involves camping!

I am paying for my trip separately so all of the money you give will be going straight to FSID - the Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths - a charity that has continuously helped my family a great deal.  See below for what the charity does and how your money will help.

About Cot death:

On average, 10 babies die suddenly and unexpectedly er week in the UK.

Cot death claims the lives of more babies tham meningitis, all forms of cancer and accidents put together.

Over 19,000 lives have been saved since 1991 as a result of FSID's health advice.

What does FSID do?

FSID finds research into cot death and supports families whose babies have died suddenly and unexpectedly. They work with proffessionals to improve investigations after a baby dies and spread information about infant health, baby care and sudden infant deaths to health professionals and the general public.

How will your money help?

£32 pays for 100 families to receive life-saving information about keeping their baby healthy and safe.

£108 pays for one dy of helpline support from trained advisors.

£425 will purchase a breathing monitor used by the Care of the Next Infant scheme.
