Story

"The Great North Run is the largest event in the NETA fundraising calendar. We have a team of around 20 people running for us this year. Please support them!"

I volunteered and then worked at NETA before I trained as a speech therapist, and it's a fantastic charity. They provide a wide range of support to people with aphasia and their families across the north east, and a real lifeline as there are not many groups doing anything similar! Aphasia is a "hidden" disability - it's difficult to tell from the outside how much someone might be struggling with the basics of understanding what you say or giving a simple response - but it is super frustrating and can lead to a lot of isolation and anxiety. NETA is a really positive place to go to - lots of activities for people to access as well as friendly support and advice. Please support me to raise a bit of cash to help them continue this!
