Normandy and New York Marathons · 15 June 2014

Through social activities, day outings, respite breaks & challenges, The Not Forgotten transforms the lives of veterans and serving military personnel living with injury, illness or isolation by bringing people together, lifting spirits and restoring dignity and confidence.

Story

I have worked as Head of Events, The Not Forgotten Association for the past 16 years and during that time have met many thousands of injured servicemen and women.  I was fortunate to meet 14 First World War Veterans during my early years with the Association and this being the Centenary Year of the Great War and the 70th Anniversary of many of the Battles of the Second World War it seemed appropriate to take part in the Marathon de la Liberte, Normandy.  I am delighted 5 young injured servicemen the Association has been involved with have chosen to run with me to commemorate this significant year and we are delighted we will be joined in Normandy by 2 D Day Veterans who will be cheering us on.  Later in the year I will be returning to New York for my 20th marathon.

Running marathons is my way of supporting this  Association and the special people they help.
