Story

I am running my way through 2018 to support the People's Kitchen in Newcastle, and the work they do in my community.

January : Step 1: buy trainers. Step 2:  run.
February : Race at your own pace 25 mile challenge
March : Park runs & 5K event
April : Race at your own pace 50 miles challenge
May : Climb Scafel Pike
June : Race at your own pace 75 mile challenge &  5K 'colour run'
July : 10 mile walk & a 50 mile monthly challenge
August : Race at your own pace 100 miles challenge
September : Great North Run (half-marathon)
October : Kielder 10K race & run 50 miles over the month
November : Race at your own pace 100 mile challenge & a 5K fun run
December : Run from Heaton to the People's kitchen to hand over the donation in time for Christmas

'The Kitchen' is based in Newcastle city centre – which is close to my heart - and does an amazing job of reaching out to those who need it and provide food, friendship and family for anyone without a loving home or family. By helping people with emotional difficulties, their physical and mental health, addictions, social and housing problems, they are a big lifeline for so many people, especially given the current state of living in the UK.

Raising money for The People’s kitchen would mean that they could continue to provide this care and support, as they are entirely volunteer ran and rely on donations to enable their services.

About the charity

We are a non judgemental charity. We serve 250-300 hot meals a day, 365 days a year. We also provide clothing and bathroom facilities. We are 100% volunteer led & we receive no government funding. We rely on the generosity of the public to be able to support those less fortunate than ourselves.
