Watch us wreck the mic, Watch us wreck the mic, Watch us wreck the mic..............HIKE!
A shameful corruption of PJ and Duncan’s early nineties masterpiece “Lets get ready to Rhumble” but nonetheless an appropriate rallying cry for our team's effort in Maggie's London Night Hike 2009 on 18/09/2009 whereupon 5 girls and one lucky(?) fellow will set out to walk 20 miles via some of London’s finest buildings.
A Maggie’s Centre is a place to turn to for help with any of the problems, small or large, associated with cancer. Under one roof persons whose lives are affected by cancer can access help with information, benefits advice and psychological support. It is there for anybody who feels the need for help, which includes those who love and look after someone with cancer, who often feel as frightened and vulnerable as those who actually have the disease.
A Maggie’s Centre will be many things to many people. It is there for anybody to use in the way they want to. There isn’t a one size fits all recipe for how you live with cancer. Everybody needs to find their own way… …and speaking of finding our own way…the 20 mile late night hike will take us to old favourites such as the Royal Geographical Society and Horse Guards, as well as to architectural highlights namely Fulham Palace and Channel 4. We will also visit the London Maggie’s Centre to see first-hand where the fundraising money will be spent. We’re going to raise £1200 between now and then. Dig deep people.
