Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

The Shooting Star Chase children's hospice is a very worthy cause.

From 28th June to 5th July we are rowing up the Thames from Richmond to Lechlade. Latest news...

Day 3 start. Thank you Paul and Maria Kelly for putting us all up last night and providing a great BBQ!!  After a gruelling two days and 40 miles rowed, we are in Marlow and about to start the toughest stretch of 27 miles to Pangbourne in 28 degree heat..

Day 4. Thanks to Helen and Nick Goodwin who put up the team last night, not realising how many we would be.. amazing!! After completing the longest leg of our row, yesterday saw 34 degree heat and a huge challenge to keep from dehydration and sunburn! We were helped by guest appearances  from Terry O'Conner , Tony Kavanagh and Charlie Stockwell.

Day 5. Support boat with Ian Murray left us at Abingdon after doing great work generously replaced by Rod Bromfield's  4x4. Another 21 miles under our belts, thankfully without the  forecast heavy rain.

Day 6.  We finish! The longest day, starting at 10:00 and arriving in Lechlade at 19:45, tired but very happy!! Completing 52 hours of rowing and passing through 45 locks.🚣🚣🚣 -:)

This is the 10th year of fundraising by the Old Crinklies and supporters of Teddington RFU. We began 10 years ago by rowing down the Thames for the Shooting Star Trust so it seems appropriate on our 10th anniversary we row the Thames again, the harder way this time, for such a good cause. Since we began, thanks to our kind donors, we have raised over £35,000, for various good causes, cycling to Paris, cycling the Picos Europa, canoeing the Severn, rowing the Shannon, the Rio Ebro in Spain, the Great Glen, the Danish Baltic and walked 100 miles of the Cornish Coastal Path.

This years team...in the Teddington picture, left to right..Rob Allen, Rod Bromfield, Vince Harte, Derek Grant, Dave Lea, Ian Murray, Adrian Yelland.

Also rowing and/or supporting; Timmy Jones, Norman Adnett, Tony Kavanaugh, Dave Dabney, Tim Smith, Russell Jones, Gareth Cross, Chris Wright, Charlie Stockwell, Karen Kirk, Helen and Nick Goodwin.
