Over 150,000 of us in the UK have MS. It’s unpredictable and different for everyone. But it doesn’t have to be this way. We’re the MS Society. We understand what life’s like with MS. We're here for you through the highs, lows and everything in between. Together, we are strong enough to stop MS.

Story

This is the page for information about the trips and donations to Multiple Sclerosis Society. I also have a page for Make a Wish Foundation, at http://www.justgiving.com/Paris-Venice-Make-a-Wish if you'd prefer to donate to that very worthy cause instead (or as well!).

I will be riding the Tour de Jersey (50 miles) as part of my training for cycling from John O'Groats to Lands End in September, which will be close to 1000 miles in two weeks. It seems like quite a long ride but we've done it before...

Paris to Venice is a long way on a bike, but a group of us did the trip in September 2010, over 14 days.

The ride ended up taking us 903 miles (about 1440km) and obviously involved crossing the Alps. To make it more interesting, we crossed the Vosges Mountains and the Black Forest as well.

In all, we did about 50,000ft of climbing (over 15,000m) and our highest point was as we crossed into Italy through the Timmelsjoch Pass, at 2,507m (around 8,200ft).

We camped most nights and carried all our own equipment, food and water.

The trip stems from an adventure I was proud to be part of in 2007, when the three other members of the 'L'Express' team, plus another who couldn't make the Venice trip, cycled the Pyrenees end to end - Atlantic to Mediterranean. I say proud, but I was also jealous, so this time I rode with them.

And we made it!
