Story

Thanks for visiting the page.  We are trying to raise as much money as possible in Anne's name for St Gemma's Hospice in Leeds UK.

Anne was a truly remarkable person - a wife, mother, sister, daughter, teacher, and great friend to many.

She was also an incredibly prolific engineering academic. She was the world leading authority on corrosion and tribology, publishing 700 peer reviewed papers with over 13,000 citations to date.  She also supervised 169 Ph.D. students to graduation.  It is safe to say that Anne was one of the UK's greatest ever engineering researchers - check out her Wikipedia page to see her unprecedented list of achievements.

Anne Neville (engineer) - Wikipedia

I met Anne and Mark (Anne's husband) at Glasgow Uni in 1988.  We all studied engineering together; well Anne studied, I specialised more in the extracurricular activities found in the student union bar, and Mark somehow managed to successfully oscillate between both.  We had a great time together.  The photograph at the top of the page was taken at our graduation in 1992: from the left, Louise (my wife), me, Mark, and Anne.

Anne was diagnosed with cancer in 2008 but she did not let it slow her down in any aspect of her life.  In fact, she used the diagnosis as a driver to live life to the fullest.  Anne, Mark and Rachel (their daughter) could not have packed more into their life together - it was truly inspirational.

St. Gemma's Hospice played a big role in helping Anne manage her illness and get the most from her life.  Their expertise, care and dedication to patients helps so many families in a similar way.  Anne was a great supporter of St Gemma's, and the hope here is we can raise some cash to continue this support in her name.
