Story

Friends... I need your help to raise £900 for VSO before heading off to Kenya for a year on 4 March 2011 to do voluntary work as an HR Advisor ( on recruitment, appraisals, pay, supervision and support for staff) for WOFAK (Women Fighting AIDS in Kenya). This is an organisation set up by women with HIV for women and children with HIV/AIDS. The epidemic particularly effects women and they have over 150,000 women on their books alone. Not only does VSO ask for a year or two of our lives they also want us to raise £900 before we go! This money will go to VSO directly, not to any specific project but helps to fund volunteer placements such as my own.

So, amidst the packing, panicking and vaccinations I have set up this site so that those of you who wish to donate can do so directly to VSO via JustGiving. I would like to use this opportunity to thank everyone for the support I have received in getting ready to go and also to say goodbye to all of you until my return!

I wish you a fruitful and rewarding year in 2011 and thank you for supporting me and my fundraising!

Love Ruth
