Story

Thank you for visiting my sponsorship page.

I am taking part in the Great North Run on 20 September 2009 - 13.1 miles from Newcastle to Gateshead!

As this is the first (and probably last) time I am attempting such a distance, I am telling everyone about it and using the opportunity to raise awareness of a charity called SANDs - the stillbirth and neonatal death charity. This charity supports anyone affected by the death of a baby and it promotes research to reduce the loss of babies lives.

I am running in memory and celebration of baby Oliver, who tragically died when he was only 2 days old. The charity, SANDs, has been a constant and unwavering support to his proud parents.

If you learn one new fact today, let it be this:

·  17 babies a day are stillborn or die within the first 4 weeks of their young lives.

If you want to find out more about this cause, see www.uk-sands.org
