Story
The Challenge...
In November 2010 I'll be packing up a very small bag and embarking on a bit of a challenge in Cuba. Over 10 days I'll be cycling 350km over some rather rough terrain and dodging old cuban cadillacs. Admittedly in the past I haven't always been the naturally sporty type and so training for this has been a challenge in itself. Over recent weeks I have been cycling around the countryside, running and going to spinning classes, ouch!
The reason...
I lost my beautiful Mum to cancer in 2007 and only last year my wonderful uncle Phil also lost his fight with this awful disease, I understand the pain it causes and the cruel way it claims lives. The thought of losing a child to this ruthless illness is too much for all of us to bare and by donating you'll be helping the children and parents that need not suffer and also help them get better.
World Child Cancer is an incredible Charity that operates globally in low and middle income countries. Each project is unique with unique challenges but they all share overall objectives of improving survival rates and reduce suffering.
"Children with cancer in developing countries have not received much attention or support. Other challenges such as HIV/AIDS or tuberculosis have overwhelmed health services. However, many children with cancer can be cured. It costs only £40 to provide the drugs to save a child with Burkitts lymphoma in Malawi. A little money really does go a long way."
Professor Elizabeth Molyneux OBE, Paediatric Consultant, Queen Elizabeth Centre Hospital, Blantyre, Malawi.
Have a look at their website and see the amazing projects that they're involved with and if feel you can, also look at some of the stories, heartbreaking but full of hope and this is where your money really does make a difference.
