Fundraising for Motor Neurone Disease Association
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In October 2009, 2weeks after his birthday, my rugby club chairman Simon Adams was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease. The prognosis is quite simple, death. The timescale is anything up to three years from the time the symptoms became apparent. Instead of seeing this as a negative effect on his life he took the positive out of it and chose to raise 1 million pounds for the Motor Neurone Disease Association. Having played for the club for 2 seasons I know Simon well and after I left and moved to I thought I would do my bit here to raise money to help him reach his overall goal. Simon has raised money through charity events in and around the world, such as a dinner evening hosted by Plymouth Albion RFC. My old rugby club Old Plymouthian and Mannameadean’s (OPM’s) have also raised a lot of money through running the recent Plymouth Half Marathon as a team and many social events. I am a personal trainer at Nuffield Health Club in and normally I would concentrate my training specifically on rugby and general fitness however I have put down my rugby boots and gum shield and picked up my running trainers and taken on a new challenge. I have signed up for the triathlon in august this year. This will be my first triathlon and I have chosen the big one. An Olympic distance triathlon consists of a 1500m swim in the Thames, 40km bike race and a 10km run through ’s docklands. I have set myself the challenge of raising a minimum of £2000 for Simon and his cause. I have organised a social event for the members of Nuffield Health Bristol at the gym where the proceeds will go towards my overall target as well as running events in the club such as teaching every cycle class in 1 week in fancy dress or in a themed class. All is have asked is for members to give any donations to help me.So please dig deep and donate now.
