Story
Hello,
I’d be tremendously appreciative if you could sponsor me to run the London Marathon for the House of of St Barnabas in October.
The House of St Barnabas is a charity pledging to break the cycle of homelessness. It runs an Employment Academy, that I've been close to over the last few years, that is fully integrated into its social business: a not-for-profit members club with a socially conscious membership.
The Employment Academy helps those who have been affected by homelessness, to build their confidence, skills and gain work experience throughout the club and offices, as well as be supported through continued mentoring as they gain employment and beyond.
It costs approx. £3,000 to put one person through the House's three month programme and £5,000 for the three month programme and 12 months progression support.
The House of St Barnabas means a lot to me. It's where I've seen people affected by homlessness gain respect for themselves and become part of society again. I've seen the House help people young and old, of every background, to get back on their feet, into work and remain in employment. It's a tremendous thing.
This is the first time the charity has had places at the London Marathon, so I'm trying to do them proud. I'd appreciate anything you can give in this cost of living crisis and it will help fuel me to run on the day.
Thank you!
