Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am running the New York Marathon because my best friend Ross Scallan was killed in a car crash on the 1st November 2008. We used to spend every day hanging out after work and just joking around, not doing much, but having a great time.  Ross was a huge part of my life and it made me realise that we are not invincible like we thought we were and that life is too short.

For this reason I wanted a challenge that would really test me, take a lot of focus and hard work to achieve. The New York Marathon is on the 1st November 2009 and will be a great opportunity to complete a massive goal in my life and to celebrate Ross’s life.

The charity that Michael Scallan has chosen is Youth Options, which is a Hampshire based charity giving opportunities and teaching life skills to young people aged eight to nineteen from every aspect of the community. I feel privileged to have been given all of the opportunities in life that I have had so far and believe that everyone deserves the same. We are hoping to raise £15,000.00 to be able to help Youth Options replace one of their minibuses which has recently gone beyond economical repair.

So please dig deep and donate now.
