Story

On Friday December 20th, 2019 I had a freak accident when in my local park a random dog ran into my kneecap at speed. The ensuing fall broke my ankle and damaged my knee ligament. Thankfully it wasn't a complicated break and my healing was without any issue even though I missed physiotherapy sessions (thanks Covid).  I was on crutches until mid-March.

Anyhoo, I've slowly got my ass moving and can do a 5K without a problem, and a 10K at sloth speed. I was supposed to do the Great North Run in September but, well, Covid.

I now need a push to keep going, especially as it starts getting colder so I've decided to set a goal and do my half marathon exactly one year after the ankle break. It's not an organised run, it'll just be me, pounding the streets, alone on December 20th 2020. I've got 12 weeks to get ready. Easy right?

Just saying it won't get me out of the door, so I'm signing up to raise much needed funds for a local charity that is barely scraping by to help save, protect and rehome cats and dogs. Please help me to help them by chucking in a couple of quid. Here's a word from the charity...

Please give urgently today, we need you now more than ever...We are doing everything we can to play our part to help fight this situation we all face with Coronavirus, but the reality is, as a small charity this is already testing our survival. We want to be there for those vulnerable animals we exist to help; life has already abandoned them once, we must continue to survive as a charity so we can fight for them. To provide food to the once starving stray dog, safety for the Mum cat and her kittens thrown out and left to fend for themselves, treatment for the sick and injured, and all the while give them the love and understanding they deserve. They need us now more than ever. We need you now more than ever. We don't receive any government funding, and our planned fundraising activity and events have had to be cancelled. There is a lot of uncertainty ahead and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your thoughts and support. Stay safe. Rain Rescue x
