Event: Cardiff Half Marathon 2016, on 2 October 2016
We advocate change and provide services to BME individuals affected by violence.

Story

I will be taking part in the Cardiff half marathon to raise funds that will go towards Bawso FGM Health and Safeguarding project.

I feel very strongly that FGM should be stopped, which causes significant harm and constitutes physical and emotional abuse to young girls.

I recently saw in the news that some part of Maasai community in Kenya have opened a refuge for girls who are in danger of going through FGM and are supported. Even the Maasai men were in acceptance of girls who have not gone through FGM and thinks it is not important. This is coming from the community where FGM is practiced the most.

We should join forces and reach out to communities who are most inclined to practice FGM and hard to reach.
