Story
Time to race up those running shoes....
This January I will be attempting to (outrun my former fundraising self and) run 200 kilometers in order to raise money for our GUCFS 2021 charitable partner- Glasgow's Golden Generation.
Over the past 9 months most of us will have at some point struggled with feelings of loneliness and/or social isolation. Sadly, this feeling is experienced, all to commonly, by many older adults in our community, both prior to and throughout the pandemic. Therefore, as we hit our 3rd(?) national lockdown, the work of Glasgow's Golden Generation once again becomes more important than ever. Despite many challenges the charity continue to help our older adults by providing them with essential goods and striving to keep them connected with others.
Any donations, as little as the £3-£5 you would normally have spent on a pint, will make a massive difference. Both myself, as I struggle to rack up the km, and the charity, as they heroically continue despite the difficulties, will be incredibly grateful to anyone who gives what they can.
Lots of love, Saz x
More About the Charity-
Glasgow's Golden Generation, formerly Glasgow Old People's Welfare Association, has been caring in autumn years since 1948. The charity works throughout Glasgow to prevent loneliness, social isolation and poverty in older adults. Services provided by Glasgow's Golden Generation include 3 day care centres, a citywide befriending project, welfare officers and over 100 weekly clubs. In 2018, our platinum anniversary, we aim to reach even more older adults across the city and continue our vital work in the communities of Glasgow.
