So what have we signed up for? Hosted on the remote Islands on the West Coast of Scotland, the Scottish Ultra is widely recognised as the toughest and most demanding multi-day event on offer in the UK. The event will see us (hopefully!) cover 140 miles over 5 days taking in high mountains, raised beaches, isolated tracks/trails and strength sapping coastal terrain in one of the more remote and certainly most extreme environments that Britain has to offer. The event is run by an ex Special Boat Service commander who seems to think “More fun” means “steeper hills, worse terrain and more bog”!
So why are we doing it? Some may say boredom, others a midlife crisis (at 28!), but truthfully all 3 of us want to push ourselves like never before. Not just a physical challenge, these 5 days are going to be more mentally draining for us than sitting through Mamma Mia followed by Sex in the City – the film!
Now for the plea: None of us are frequent charity raisers but this opportunity to raise a serious amount of money is too good to turn down. Please dig deep for one of our preferred charities (links below) and wish us the best of luck (we’re going to need it!)
