Story
Hi All,
In June 2020 I will be cycling some 1700 miles, visiting Nightlines (hence my criss crossing through the UK as opposed to the direct route!) to raise awareness of student mental health and help raise funds for Nightline.
As some of you may know, I am a volunteer with Nightline Association having previously been a listening volunteer on the phone whilst at University.
Nightline is a student led listening charity, open at night offering a confidential, anonymous, non judgmental, non advisory and non directive service to over 1.8 million students across the UK.
As a listening volunteer I saw first hand the unbelievable passion, skills and dedication of our volunteers who worked 12 hour shifts out of the goodness of their heart. Having used Nightline before I volunteered, I can speak first hand about the huge impact that having someone to talk to at your darkest moment can be.
I then went on to join the Nightline Association, volunteering as Head of Department for Events. It was here I began to understand the mechanics that help support Nightlines across the country. Working with volunteers up and down the UK who offer their time, skills, enthusiasm and compassion to try and create a student experience that has confidential non judgemental listening at its core.
It is our 50th Anniversary in 2020, we will be celebrating at our 2020 Spring Conference where Nightlines from across the country come together for training and development.
If we could raise £50,000 it would not only be poignant and amazing, but I would also be eternally grateful.
Thanks for all your support!
All the best,
Sean
