"HACKNEY HELPCENTRE URGENT REPAIRS APPEAL"
Nearly 10 years ago, I stepped into the UCKG Helpcentre for the first time. Not knowing what to expect, I received something I had never had before... true help.
I had come from a life of bad relationships, depression and a very low self esteem and the counselling and advice I received helped me to turn my life around. Since then I haven't looked back!!
On the 13th June 2010 I will be taking part in the Do it for Charity 5K run in Greenwich Park on behalf of our Helpcentre in Hackney. The building is a former London Synagogue and is grade II listed.
The building is in urgent need of repairs. It needs a new roof, a modern, more efficient heating system and urgent repairs to walls severely damaged by years of water infiltration – works will cost £150,000.

Once these repairs are completed the Helpcentre will be able to continue:
• Free daily one-to-one advice
• Patient Care Group (volunteers that visit those housebond and in hospital)
• Youth Group (currently helping 70+ young men/women, volunteers include some ex-gang members)
• Senior Citizens group
• Support for prison inmates and their families
You can see where your money will be going to. Not only the restoration of a heritage building but also contributing to the life change of many who will enter.
Your help is much appreciated.
