Story
Shamila Sheri’s family and friends have known Shamila as a hard working, fun and warm young woman full of energy and life.
At age 23, Shamila was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma May 2009. Shortly after her first round of successful chemotherapy, she suffered a series of seizures. Scans revealed the lymphoma had progressed to the brain and it quickly became apparent that Shamila was suffering from a very aggressive form of the disease. The Consultants all agreed that the tumour was inoperable, and that the prognosis was poor. Nevertheless we found that there was still hope. More treatments were available for her. Thankfully a dedicated Brain Lymphoma specialist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Centre in New York has considered treating Shamila with further life preserving treatment. However such treatment can only be carried out in New York through our fundraising efforts Shamila needs further support to fund the essential treatments. Once we have reached our target amount, Shamila will be able to carry out high dose chemotherapy. Before encountering this tragedy, Shamila Sheri was always a very energetic and social person. Whist on holiday in Portugal with friends, early2009, she regrettably found out that she was diagnosed. We would like to explain to you that every penny you bring forward is greatly appreciated for.
