UPDATE: Today (14/7/10) they have started a new programme of stem cell research. FINGERS CROSSED!
I DID IT ... Woo hoo, 1hr 11mins 17secs. Not as fast as last year but I do have a torn calf muscle :-(. Wait until 2011! I am determined to beat my 2009 time of 1hr 5mins 29secs! Many thanks to all those who donated, I can't tell you how much it means to both J & I and thousands of people who find themselves in the same position.
Parkinson’s disease is a cruel progressive neurological condition affecting movements, such as walking, talking and writing. There are 120,000 people with Parkinson’s in the alone and around 10,000 are diagnosed with the condition each year. Of those, one in 20 people is under the age of 40. There is currently no cure.
The Parkinson's UK supports sufferers and their families in every conceivable way and funds research and educational initiatives. It does incredible work but is completely dependent on voluntary donations.
Why am I doing this at my age? Because my partner of 27 years has Parkinson's Disease and you never know what is around the corner.
My pledge to J, my partner - to try & beat my time for last year (1hr 5m & 29s), even if by only a few seconds without breaking my knees! and to do as much fundraising as I possibly can starting with the 10k Jane Tomlinson's Run for All race.
So, now you know my pledge, all I need to know now is what your pledge is.
I am working out so hard in order to be as fit as possible for race day. Why don't you match me and
give your credit card a good work out by sponsoring me online. If you don't want to sponsor me online you can let me know your pledge and I will pop it onto a sponsor form.
Parkinson's UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Oh what the hell just give me the money!
Thank you, muchos gracias, merci, danke ad infinitum.
Shelley

Here's to next year. Thanks to you all for sponsoring me. For those who haven't managed to sponsor me yet the page is live until 31st October so please feel free to dig deep ;-)
