Story

ANAPHYLAXIS KILLS! The tragedies of dying from eating a sandwich on a plane or from eating nuts hidden in a dish from a restaurant are not just stories, they are realities.  Anaphylaxis is my reality, it’s my constant worry, my disability and the hidden disease that I live with every day.

Thanks to my dad who has handed down his unique mixture of humour, positive energy and allergies, I am allergic to NUTS, chickpeas, dairy, kiwi, lentils, soya and lupin to name but a few.  So, we are BOTH going to jump out of a plane to show the world just how nutty we are.

The only way that we can beat anaphylaxis is to raise awareness. Publicity alone is not enough to save lives! The world needs to become safer and more accessible for people living with anaphylaxis,  just because the disability is hidden does not mean it needs to hide.

Since birth, I have suffered from severe allergies, I’ve scared the living daylights out of my family & friends as reactions are literally instantaneous and can happen anywhere at any time. Consequently, I carry an Epipen, an injection specifically designed to buy time to get to hospital to receive medical treatment. I’ve had to get off busses, leave shopping centres, and loads of parties, in order to get emergency medical treatment I’ve been hospitalised in 5 different countries, had a severe reaction just walking down the street and was even taken to hospital after a bad reaction to my first kiss!

Anaphylaxis kills every year, and these tragic deaths can be prevented by raising awareness! Living with this is a constant nightmare and I want to do what I can to help the Anaphylaxis Campaign in their efforts with raising awareness and helping those with the disease live their best life to the fullest.

Given the restrictions on my lifestyle, I’ve always wanted to push boundaries. Since I’m not safe on the ground, or inside a plane, why not try free-falling at 15,000 feet. My whole life I have been desperate to take part in a sky-dive and the only person who had ever supported me in this was my Nana Priscilla.  Nana passed away unexpectedly in November 2018 and I am jumping in her memory, she too was an allergy sufferer, an NHS worker and the fiercest and bravest person I’ve ever known.

Joining me on the jump is my Dad, the very person responsible for giving me many of my ailments and allergies! He suffers from vertigo and won’t even do the tea-cup ride, so please help us raise enough money so that he can’t back out.
