Story
One day we were a normal, healthy, very happy family. A simple x-ray changed all that. The next day we were facing every family's worst nightmare. We went from the usual `growing pains' to a diagnosis of metastatic bone cancer in the blink of an eye. Our daughter Jess was just 13 years old when she was diagnosed. She faced a gruelling schedule of chemotherapy, surgery and radiotherapy but just 16 months later we lost our beautiful girl just before Christmas and a few months before she would have turned 15. There is no aspect of our lives that has been left untouched by her death. Because bone cancer is very hard to diagnose early, especially in children and young people, it is vital that progress is made to find better, kinder treatments and ultimately a cure for this most aggressive of cancers. The money we raise for BCRT is used directly to fund research that is long overdue and just wasn't being done before.
Thank you for supporting our fundraising in memory of Jess. I'm not much of a runner but I will give it my best shot. Miss you Jess and will love you always <3
The Bone Cancer Research Trust is dedicated to saving lives and improving outcomes for people affected by primary bone cancer. Despite being a very small charity we are the leading funders of research into this cruel disease - with more research projects exploring primary bone cancer than any other organisation. In 2017 as part of 'The Biggest Fight Against Bone Cancer - Ever!' we are aiming to raise £1.1million to fuel more research, more information, more awareness, more support and ultimately save more lives! Please support our fight today.
