Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We are raising money for Prostate Cancer in the memory of a great rugby international and superstar champion Andy Ripley (for those who have long memories when "Superstars" had A list sportsmen competing, Andy was a real star and a superb athlete).

Our challenge was to climb the three highest peaks in Great Britain in less than 24 hours including travelling between the mountains.

We will started on Friday 2nd July at 5.00pm at the bottom of Ben Nevis and end on Saturday 3rd of  July at Snowdon before 5.00pm

All the boys completed the challenge in 23 Hrs 30 mins.

We have a mixed team of old and young, please wish us luck and donate for a great cause.

the young legs ;  Brad, Christie, James S, Joe, Ollie,  Rauiri and Will H.

the old crocks ;  Dave, Tony, Spencer and Q.

The weather on Ben Nevis was a major challenge- heavy rain and strong gale force winds however everyone made it up and down within 4hrs 30 mins.

The drive to Seathwaite took a little longer than planned due to a diversion after Erskin Bridge, we arrived at 3.00 am and set off up Scafell at 3. 40am. The weather for Scafell Pike was significantly better and we decided to approach the top via the scree slope and reach the summit at 6.00 am, we returned the same way and were back at the cars by 8.30am.

We made good time drivng to LLanberis however when we reach Wales we were caught in a traffic jam and did not arrive at LLanberis car park until 1.15pm.  Louisa helped with transport to Pen-y-pas and we started our ascent of Snowdon at 1.30pm. The weather was great, sun was shining with a strong wind keeping the clouds off the top.The fast legs ran to the top and were there within an hour and the old legs followed on behind and arrived at 3.30pm. The boys chose another route down and finished the challenge at 4.20- 4.30pm and the wise old legs came in just behind them decending much faster in 1 hour 20 mins.

A great effort by all, a fantastic weekend which ended with the boys plotting next year's charity challenge! Any ideas or takers??
