See below the exciting things we are doing and have done to help raise the much needed funds for Sense:-

Thursday 29th October 2009 - Charity Band's Gig @ Sumo, Braunstone Gate, Leicester.

Local Leicester Band's "The Eaves"  headlined, supported by "Formal Warning" and "Last Edition", £300 raised on the night. Well done to Adam Horne for organising it and thank you to everyone that came along to support.

Tuesday 3rd November 2009 - Sponsored swim @ The Grove Leisure Centre, Newark.

Stuart Buchan, Relationship Manager covering Lincolnshire managed a sponsored, non-stop 2 mile swim, which equated to 128 lengths, acheived in 1 hour and 11 minutes.    A photograph is attached of our finely toned Olympic Swimmer and well done, we all knew you could do it!!!

Saturday 7th November 2009 - Climbing Snowdon Blindfolded!

A Lombard Team of 17 people lead by John Horne, Relationship Director based at Leicester climbed the dizzy heights of Snowdon with small groups of people spending time blindfolded and guided to climb to the top of the mountain. 5 and half miles up and 3 and a half miles down later, everyone enjoyed the hot drink (with a touch of brandy) in the cafe at Pen y Pas afterwards!

Freezing cold conditions, wind, rain, hail was all thrown our way, but every single person made it to the peak and back down again.  Great Teamwork and well done to all involved.  Any sponsoring of our Team or donation that you can make as a Company, Individual or Group would be appreciated.

Wednesday 11th November 2009 - Battleshops!

Lombard Leicester & Lincolnshire Team ran the Sense charity shop in Coalville for the day against 3 other local Sense shops in Loughborough, Willenhall & Walsgrave in Coventry in a "The Apprentice" style, raise more money than the other Regional Lombard Teams on the day.

We had generous gifts of stock for the shop, a great turn out from customers and some real heart warming stories of donations made by people in the Town Centre.  Thank you to all the staff at the shop, the people of Coalville and the Lombard Leicester & Lincolnshire Team, including "The Management" - Nick Tabiner, Andy Hart and Nigel Clibbens (makes a great Santa!).  We raised over £1,000 on the day which is a truly fantastic achievement.

Also, we raised over £250 via a Golden Goal Lottery and several other Team based and individual events which will help us to smash our fund raising target!

If you would like to give a donation, this would be gratefully received.  Please pass this on to your friends, family and colleagues via e-mail or tell them about it and spread the word.

Sense - Our vision is of a world in which all deafblind children and adults can be full and active members of society.

Our purpose is to work in partnership with others – deafblind people, their families, carers and professionals – to ensure that everyone challenged by deafblindness or sensory impairment with other disabilities, has access to advice, opportunities and support.
