We inspire young people to believe in a brighter future

Story

On 18th May I will be joining a number of work colleagues to take on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks. We are raising money for individual charities that we are passionate about, and I have chosen The Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust. This is an amazing organisation that gives children who have battled and survived cancer the opportunity to join together and experience sailing. The aim of the programme is to rebuild confidence and independence after treatment, and to help the kids connect with others who have been through the same ordeal. As many of you will know, my inspiration for this cause is my daughter, Ellen, who has fought cancer twice. She is now fit, well and raring to sail; she was fortunate enough to be selected to take part in one of the Ellen MacArthur trips last summer and it was a hugely positive experience for her, growing her confidence and independence. Many thanks for your support.

About the charity

The Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust inspires young people aged 8-24 to believe in a brighter future living through and beyond cancer. For many young people simply picking up where they left off before their diagnosis just isn’t possible. So, when treatment ends the Trust’s work begins.
