Story
Dear friends,
It has been a difficult time since my last update… I picked up a groin injury and rested it for 2.5 weeks. I’ve started training again but the injury has not gone completely so I have to manage the pain and run quite slowly, so slow that Nate, my 5 year old, can keep up with me now. Dreams of running a good time are over but I am still focused on completing the event.
I talked about sacrifices last time and the fact I had to wear neon…I have just received my T shirt for the big day they must have heard about my passion for a bright colour … coincidence or someone playing cruel tricks? Since that last email I have made yet more sacrifices – from today until the 17th I will take a break from my relationship with white wine…A HUGE DEAL. I am making financial sacrifices on sports massages – paying good money to be hurt. I never guessed that sports massages would be so painful.
Last and far from least, I now take iced baths – ouch. I had one today as it is suppose to be good after a run ... I am sure it is if you can face plunging yourself into freezing cold water, I can’t so the first one lasted 5 seconds. I’m better now. I can’t wear heels in case I pull or damage my knees – thankfully I don’t have an awards event until after the marathon – flat shoes and a cocktail dress is a difficult look to pull off. Finally I have to deal with the panic that has set in, I don’t think even the thought of child birth worried me this much.
So if you have not supported me yet please do so now…every penny you put towards my run is going to a great charity at The Childrens Trust.
If you have sponsored already, thank you. It is hugely appreciated especially as your generous donations have so far saved me (and you) from facebook and twitter. Thank you also for the support from work colleagues and family who have to put up with the constant marathon chat…
