Story
Hello and thanks for taking the time to visit my fundraising page.
I have the marathon bug and have decided to have a crack at the Paris Marathon on Sunday 11 April 2010.
Whilst I am at it I would like to raise as much money as possible to raise money for the Parkinson's Disease Society, a research charity which aims to find a cure and improve the lives of everyone who is affected by Parkinson's. It is estimated that 4 million people in the world have this condition and in the UK alone one in 500 people, 120,000 people live with the condition. The work of the Society is almost entirely funded by charitable donations.
Just over two years ago I first pulled on my running shoes with the hope of completing a 10k race and this is my second go at the 26.2 mile distance. Training this year has been up and down but I am pleased to say that again it's been a hugely positive experience.
Most of the training is done now - so if you feel you can I would really appreciate any support you can offer! I don't expect to have a massive supporting party on the day itself but any goodwill you can show by donating would be greatly appreciated - remember if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. And my employers have generously agreed to match any donations pound for pound - who can resist a bargain like that?
Many thanks in advance
x
