Myself and Matt are running my second half marathon together on 20th March and I thought I would take the opportunity to raise money for a trust very close to my family. Please take a moment to read about this wonderful trust & dig deep into your pockets and help us raise some money. Even if it is a £1 donation, myself and the trust would be extremely grateful!

The Lynsey Ivison Trust organises special holidays for children and families living with a life-threatening illness. The trusts inspiration is the short life and sad death of a singularly bright and courageous young girl called Lynsey Ivison. Diagnosed as having cancer at the age of nine, Lynsey had no illusions about the seriousness of her illness; nevertheless she was determined that life should go on as normally as possible and that her friends and family should not feel sad.
When Lynsey died aged eleven on 27th April 1990 she had already been an inspiration to other children and to their families - as well as her own family and friends who loved and admired her so deeply.

 After what proved to be the Ivison family’s last holiday together in February 1990, they decided to raise funds to help other families with children suffering from a life-shortening illness to share some precious holiday time together just as they had. This wish was the foundation for what came to be known as the Lynsey Ivison Trust - and it is only through your generosity and support that we keep this, the embodiment of Lynsey’s vision, alive.

As Lynsey would have wished, the trust works closely with the healthcare professionals who care for children suffering from terminal cancers. Their surgeons or social workers contact us when they feel the children and their families need a break from the rigours of hospital treatment - and we do our utmost to oblige. To date, we’ve helped families from Birmingham, Bristol, Cambridge and East Anglia, the south coast and of course the many hospitals in and around London.
