The ability to get around is vital in order to live a full life yet thousands of people with sight loss never leave home alone. We empower visually impaired people to do that and rely on the support of the public to fund the guide dog service.

Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit our page.  We are raising money for the Guide dogs and the Special Care Baby unit in Glangwili Hospital.  Our aim is to raise as much money as possible by taking part in (and completing!) a quadrathlon.  But not just any old quadrathlon - oh no, that'd be too easy!  We are doing the Keyo Brigg Bomber quadrathlon, which this year happens to be the World championship quadrathlon!!  But that's not the only challenge!  We are doing it as part of a team.  Again this is no ordinary team as it is made up of 4 registered blind/ visually impaired members and guides. None of us are 'athletes' by any stretch of the imagination! But together share the desire to help make a difference and improve someones life, just like the Guide dogs and the SCBU in Glangwili have done for Konrad and Myself.

Each of our Registered blind / visually impaired members have had to face and overcome many a demon.  For those of you who don't know Konrad and myself, I will share with you our 'story'.

Konrad is registered blind and has a brain injury as a consequence of a vicious attack whilst serving in the British Army. He was given his guide dog - Radley in 2008.  Since their union, the transformation in Konrad's life and outlook has been astronomical.  Radley has given him the confidence to do things which the rest of us would take for granted... like going to the shop, jumping on a train, or just going for a walk for some fresh air. My sons and I owe Radley a lot, as if it wasn't for him then Konrad would never have had the confidence to join the gym - where i was a manager at the time.  So if Konrad hadn't joined the gym, then the chances are we would never have met!  But thanks to Radley we did meet and we now have three gorgeous boys together, Jac, Cai and Siôn.

As I mentioned above, the money we raise will also be shared with the Special care baby unit in Glangwili hospital.  The reason we want to do this is because we experienced first hand how wonderful this unit is. Our third son Siôn was born almost 7 weeks prematurely. Although he was in no terrible danger, he spent three weeks at the unit on a feeding tube building up strength before he was allowed home to the mad house with Jac and Cai (plus the 7 dogs!). We saw how dedicated and loving they are at the unit.  It would be amazing if we could raise funds to help them develop a family unit - so there's a place for the worried mums (and dads!) to stay close to their precious babies or buy some much needed equipment to help the lives of the hundreds of babies that get admitted there each year.
