Story
As we enter the start of Lent, St Benedict's is taking part in the Big Walk for Water with CAFOD. We ask that you and your families join in with this virtual (lockdown-proof!) event which has been designed to help eradicate water poverty around the world.
On Saturday 20th February, at 2pm, we will be walking 5 miles (approximately 10,000 steps) or more if you can manage that. The route is completely up to you. Dates and times can also be amended to suit your family.
This JustGiving page has been set up so that once you have completed your walk you, or anyone whole would like to sponsor you, can donate on this page. We would love you to take a photo of your walk and share these with us on our Facebook page or use #walkforwater and @CAFOD.
Go to www.cafod.org.uk/walk for more info.
Your support for our Big Walk for Water will mean that we can help people like Abdella: Abdella is 23 and he has big dreams. He dreams of starting a small business, starting a family, of having his own home. He dreams of not having to walk for ten hours a day to get water. Abdella lives in Afar, Ethiopia one of the hottest places on earth. He spends most of a day getting water for his family to drink. On the days when he's too tired to walk, his brother goes. He knows that if there was water near his home, his family wouldn't have to worry about getting enough to stay alive. And he could start on the dreams he has for the rest of his life.
