I have many fond memories of discovering new books, participating in summer reading programs, and meeting with classmates at the library. I have been fortunate to grow up with the San José Public Library and enjoy the community and resources that the library provides. 

Today, in the face of the pandemic, the San José Public Library continues to serve our community by providing express check out and virtual resources. Also, there are many wonderful programs that the library offers that continue on despite the pandemic. To name a few, Career Online High School and SJ Aspires provide our community with opportunities to meet educational goals. SJ Access provides residents and students access to internet, free Wi-Fi, and digital literacy programs, which are in high demand with distance learning amid the pandemic. 

I am proud to serve as a board member of the San José Public Library Foundation and honored to support the foundation and their mission to create a more educated, equitable, and engaged community. Libraries play a critical role in maintaining our social fabric, expanding access to information, and providing tools and resources so that every member of our community has an opportunity to thrive.
