Stephen loved birdwatching and enjoyed the tranquillity of the Wetland Centre. For a brief period he wanted to move to London to be close to the Wetland Centre. He also loved visiting similar centres in Wales. He constantly talked about birds and enjoyed passing on his knowledge to his grandchildren.
